Trump's impeachment wish / ICE on ice? / Prime unrest

Trump’s impeachment wish. The Atlantic’s David Frum on the president’s racist tweets suggesting progressive lawmakers born in the U.S. go back where they came from: “He cannot refrain from behaving so outrageously that he drives his opponents toward impeachment.”
Trump’s doubling down on his original hateful remarks …
… which The Washington Post reports have revolted politicians around the world.

But the president has nothing on Not helping: Ex-Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel*, who tells The New York Times the chief of staff to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is “a snot-nosed punk.”

And from prominent Republicans (as of Monday morning): Crickets.
Author Paul Slansky: “I thought I hated Nixon. I thought I hated Reagan. I thought I hated Bush and Cheney. In fact, I had no idea what the word meant.”

ICE on ice? At least through early today in Chicago, Trump’s threatened U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids had (again) yet to materialize …
… and they failed to show in other cities, too …
… not unlike the similarly missing-in-action Humboldt Park Lagoon alligator, the hunt for which has prompted closure of half the park.

A new study finds a “staggering” number of Chicago kids exposed to violence.

Priest pulled. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago has relieved a priest of responsibilities at two South Side parishes because of accusations he sexually abused someone in 1997.
A Catholic Church in Pilsen held its final mass yesterday …
… setting the stage for a fight over what happens to the building next.

Prime unrest. As Amazon rolls out its annual Prime Day sales promotion, some of the company’s warehouse workers went on strike.
Ars Technica on Amazon hype: Beware discounts on products that haven’t sold at suggested retail prices for months, and products whose prices were artificially raised before the sale.
Consumer Reports: Check prices at other stores before buying …
… but USA Today found some real bargains on Apple and Amazon products.
