Chicago Public Square and Northwestern University’s Local News Accelerator are teaming up to offer you free and interactive online coaching already received by thousands of professional journalists.

Your host: University of Illinois Chicago journalism lecturer Mike Reilley, who’s trained more than 22,000 journalists, students and teachers in the use of digital tools since 2016. He’ll introduce you to cutting-edge artificial intelligence tech and fact-checking services that can help you navigate the new world taking shape before our eyes.

Journalism class, anyone?

Have kids at home in need of a lesson or two? Chicago Public Square will try something new Friday: A live online journalism class at 2 p.m. Central time.

Square founder Charlie Meyerson—an adjunct Roosevelt University journalism prof who’s also taught at Northwestern and Columbia College; and who’s lectured at several high school and college journalism conferences—will take questions from kids of all ages about the news business via a Google Hangouts video chat.

We’ll limit this class to 25 participants, but if demand exceeds that, more to come.
